Full Monty with the phone!

Nokia, being the number one cell phone company sometimes forgets how important it is to have some sensible people on board. The launch of its latest E-series phones not only involved unveiling of new gadgets but also the great fundas of their top brains.

While, the world is talking about maintaining a good work life balance, the Director-Marketing, Nokia India, Devinder Kishore feels on the contrary. After giving a long and boring presentation about cell phones market in India, it was time to finally unveil the new phones.

So the lights go dim and Kishore though in the dark, still visible, starts to unbutton his shirt. Though the spotlights were not on him all eyes gazed only at him. He takes off his formal jacket, folds his shirt sleeves and while unbuttoning the shirt, attaches a wireless mike on his shirt. There is a huge sigh in the crowd thanking god that he didn't actually strip. So the curtains rise and there comes a golf course scene in the backdrop with a pseudo hot girl playing golf in her stilettos.

Kishore joins the young lady while holding the new phones and announces, "I'm at the golf course on a weekend and still I can respond to my official e-mails, thanks to the new E-71." He probably never heard of a blackberry before. Well, his message was that you can say F*** off to your personal life and invite all the trouble by mixing your work with personal life.

And hey, I forgot to mention where this topic came from. After revealing the phone, Kishore uncle decides to make some swanky comments by saying that "The new phones are now available in stores and you can go there and do a FULL MONTY with them" !!

Well i must say Varun, you have hit them below the belt. I agree with your point, that The Marketing Director has never heard about Blackberry phones, Which are more efficient and effective.Instead of advising people with their smart A** comments of "FULL MONTY", they should put their brains towards constructive and at the same time aggressive marketing. Having some experience in using PDA's, i should point the so called "Number one cell phone company" should research market and put some brains behind their research and marketing. As Sony, Apple and blackberry are leaps and bounds ahead of what our "FULL MONTY" director pointed out :)...Hats off to Varun...way to go man..keep it up..

Varun, did somebody never raise a point at the presentation that Mr. Kishore was in INDIA and not at a place where people would find them sesky ladies playing at golf courses?? :D.. Sould have asked him if what was in that really IMPORTANT email?? :D

And the point that you have mentioned that his message was to F*** personal life by mixing work with it... well it wasnt really very convincing enough.. afterall he is doing his job.. advertising the product(though not very impressively for what he is paid).. :P.
When you are at work do you never think of your loved ones?? do you never think of your personal life?? work is equally important as personal life dont you think?? Things stay in mind.. If you are a person who goes out for golfing for his holidays, i bet you do some important buisness .... :P

PS:: I'm not arguing.. just making a point though i liked the article overall. :D

Rahul, you have very valid points there...As far as sexy women are concerned, I doubt whether you get to see any of those in stilettos anywhere in the world, leave alone India :D
Coming to your other point about work life balance...its true that most top executives end up working even during their vacations, the fact is that every single soul hates doing it...there are many who even argue why you should throw your enterprise phones and buy a regular phone. Moreover, if Kishore had to put the point of using an enterprise phone across, there could be a better way of doing so rather than saying something like 'worklife balance concepts are passe'
